Hi! My name is Ashlee Thomson. As a child, I was always in the kitchen with my grandmothers and parents. I was lucky that they were all willing to take the time to show me whatever they were working on and involved me in everything in the kitchen. I was a curious child, so I was always willing to work and watch. When I was in elementary school I would come home from school hungry. With both parents at work, I had free reign to experiment with what to eat. I remember making some great creations and some that I never want to think about again. In college, I would sit in my classes and all I could think about was food. I ended up taking over Thanksgiving dinner and making a five course meal for thirteen people. As I served up the chocolate orange creme brûlée for dessert, I realized that cooking was what I was supposed to be doing. So I started working in restaurants, practicing and learning as much as I could. Eventually I worked my way up to executive chef. I worked in the industry for 20 years until I got pregnant with my beautiful daughter. I made the decision to step back from cooking to spend more time with my husband and daughter. I went back to school and started working in the corporate world. After some unexpected career changes, I came back to what I love. Cooking and baking is what I have always loved to do and now I am back at it!
